We’re excited to announce that Stone House Development and Threshold Development Group are partnering to develop the Voit family site as Starkweather, LLC. We’re long-term committed east side residents who bring a range of complementary skills and experience required to develop a site of this size and complexity. We share values of commitment to sustainability, affordability, high quality design, and community benefit.

Our Team

Stone House Development, Inc.

Founded in 1996 by Helen Bradbury and Richard Arnesen, Stone House Development is a Madison based full-service development company specializing in affordable and market rate multifamily housing.  Stone House is also the long-term manager of all the properties it develops. Our portfolio currently consists of 1000+ affordable and 600 market rate apartments. Stone House has been recognized on a City, state and federal level in its achievements in creating high quality, sustainable housing, both market rate and affordable. 

Threshold Development

Threshold Development Group is a second generation development company with 40+ years experience developing in Madison, Wisconsin. Specializing in urban infill, mixed-use multifamily development, founder Joe Krupp was instrumental in the revival of the Schenk’s Atwook and Basset neighborhoods.

Threshold effectively orchestrstes a network of established long term partners to navigate complex processes, striving to work at the edge of what is possible, beautiful, and good.

Affordable Housing

There is a widely recognized shortage of affordable housing in Madison, Wisconsin. Starkweather, LLC. envisions creating a variety of quality affordable housing types on the Voit Site.

Here are a few paths to achieving this goal:

  1. High density Section 42 affordable and workforce rental housing serving residents with incomes ranging from 30% to 80% county median income.  It is our desire to have around 20% of the total rental units fall within this income range. This is a housing type Stone House specializes in. 

  2.  We have heard from the community there is a desire for owner-occupied affordable housing as well as permanently affordable housing. Starkweather intends to work with area non-profits to accomplish these goals.
